DutasterideĀ belongs to a group of drugs known as 5- alpha reductase inhibitorsĀ and tamsulosin belongs to a known drug group as an alpha blocker. This medication is not intended for women. Duodart is indicated for theĀ treatment of patients with moderate-to-severe symptoms of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH). It reduces the risk of acute urinary retention (AUR) and the need for BPH-related surgery by reducing prostate size, improving urinary flow and alleviating symptoms. The tamsulosin hydrochloride component of Duodart acts byĀ relaxing the smooth muscle in your prostate gland making it easier to pass urine.Ā
Directions for Use:
Duodart must be takenĀ approximately 30 minutes after the same meal each day. Patients should be advised that Duodart should not be taken on an empty stomach as this may increase the potential for cardiovascular related adverse events such as orthostatic hypotension.
